The Individual vs. The Collective

This is part ten, and the final chapter (here, at least), in the ongoing saga of Liberal Logic. You can find the other parts
here.

Liberals love to place people in neat little groups, such as Christian Conservatives, Gays, Blacks, Women, and so forth. This alignment of people provides them with neat little categories to lump people into while they can ignore the individuals that make up the groups. The Individual is an anathema to those who worship the Collective. If you don’t believe that liberals are at war with the idea of Individualism, go here.

(Author’s note: Yes, I know that I am also grouping Liberals into a neat little group in this essay. If you are a Liberal or Progressyve and this does not apply to you, please accept my apologies. As I said in my original post, in this series I will make many generalities, so don’t bore me with cries of “Not me!”  Don’t worry; I’ll get to you another time.)

The left hates those Individuals who refuse to fall into one of their groups. This is why they detest those like Clarence Thomas, Michelle Malkin, Condoleezza Rice, and others who refuse to join them on their plantation. It is worthy of note that those that belong to one of the many “Minority Groups” (as determined by them) that come out for Conservatism are the ones that are most hated. They have ruined their method of categorizing people, and have shown that there really are Individuals out there who refuse to be categorized! If you belong to a protected minority class and intend to go against the liberal agenda, be forewarned that you may be headed down a short road.

They support their favorite programs, such as “Climate Change” based on consensus science. They denigrate those who refuse to give in to their collective view as ignorant rednecks and worse. They conveniently ignore those that have fostered scientific revolutions through their own work, such as Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, and possibly Garrett Lisi. They promote the Appeal to Authority argument by listing other collectivist organizations which leads to the question, “If those people jumped off a bridge, would you?”

By collecting these people into groups, and then promising each group their own version of a chicken for their pot, they try to collect a grand coalition to overcome the natural American Spirit of Individualism, Self Reliance, and Liberty.

The placement of people into groups also serves the Sun Tzu technique of Divide and Conquer. From “
The Art of War” Chapter VI, Weak Points and Strong:

12. If we do not wish to fight, we can prevent the enemy from engaging us even though the lines of our encampment be merely traced out on the ground.  All we need do is to throw something odd and unaccountable in his way.

13. By discovering the enemy's dispositions and remaining invisible ourselves, we can keep our forces concentrated, while the enemy's must be divided.

14. We can form a single united body, while the enemy must split up into fractions.  Hence there will be a whole pitted against separate parts of a whole, which means that we shall be many to the enemy's few.

By dividing the people of this Great Country they can conquer the political climate and get their agenda pushed forward.

As Conservatives, we understand that the population of any group is made up of Individuals. When a madman went on a rampage in a church, we condemn the Individual. The liberal condemns the group he supposedly belongs to.

Where the liberal elevation of the Collective falls apart is in the elevation of their political leaders. When B. J. Clinton committed perjury and lied to the American people, the left covered for him like cheese on hash browns. When people who get paid to lie for a living utter political commentary, the left treats it like the gospel. And when a tall guy with black hair that earns six figures as a lawyer who is married to a lawyer and went to an Ivy League school with slave holding ancestors who claims to be a Christian runs for President of the United States, the left gets shivers down their legs and faint at every appearance.

The left also hates the Individual because the Individual represents everything that they despise. The Individual may make choices that liberals disagree with, or that are not for the common good. The Individual must not have the right to defend his self. The Individual must not be able to make choices about what products to buy and sell. The Individual must not be able to decide who is going to receive his charitable donations. The Individual must not be able to place himself above others.

So remember, You are unique, You are good enough, You are smart enough, and doggone it, people like You.

So why do they place everyone into neat little groups? Why are many of their most powerful arguments simply appeals to authority?  Why do they hate the Individual? Why do they profess to sacrifice the one for the many? The answer, my friends, is simple:

It’s not about you, me, or even us, it’s about Control.
